Student Travel Grants


IEEE CS TCPP & TCCC Travel Grant for non-US students, due Feb 12, 2024 (via EDAS)

The 22nd IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (IEEE PerCom 2024) is pleased to announce competitive student travel grants for non-US based students to attend the conference and co-located events (Workshops, Ph.D. Forum, WiP, Industry Track, Demo sessions, etc.) to be held in Biarritz, France, 11-15 March 2024. Funds for the travel grants, that partially reimburse the conference attendance cost, have been provided by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Parallel Processing (TCPP) and Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC).

This funding is available only for full time students attending non-US colleges and universities. Minority and women students from diverse institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. Although student authors will be given priority for travel awards, however, this is not a requirement. Post-doctoral students may also be considered for support on a case-by-case basis. To be eligible, non-US based students (henceforth referred to as “you”) must apply via EDAS no later than Monday, February 12, 2024.

To apply for this travel support, please do the following:

  1. Obtain a letter from your advisor/professor confirming that:
    • You are currently a full -time research student in good standing, working in areas related to pervasive computing.
    • You will be attending the entire PerCom conference and associated events.
    • The remainder of your travel support will be covered (indicate how).
  2. Write a personal statement describing your research interests and how you wish to benefit from attending PerCom 2024. Indicate your full-time student status, and location from which you will be traveling.
  3. Upload the above documents, along with your two-page CV, on EDAS. After logging into EDAS, click the “Travel Grant” tab at your EDAS home page, and then select “IEEE CS TCPP & TCCC Student Travel Grant for PerCom 2024”.

Please note that IEEE PerCom conference will not be able to reimburse all of your travel expenses due to limited budget. Eligible expenses include advance student registration fee, hotel, and/or transportation (flight, bus or train). Expenses that are not eligible for reimbursement include regular or on-site registration, taxi and meals. Student travel grants are available in the form of reimbursements that are sent only after the completion of the conference and receipt of all required documentation and receipts. The reimbursement amount will be based on the number of awards made and distance travelled.

NSF Travel grant for US students (pending NSF approval)

The 22nd International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom 2024) to be held in Biarritz. France from March 11-15,2024 is delighted to support competitive student travel grants to attend IEEE PerCom 2024 Conference and co-located events (e.g., Workshops, Ph.D. Forum, WiP, Poster, and Demo sessions).

The funding for student travel grant is provided by the US National Science Foundation (NSF) – www.nsf.govThis funding is available only for full time students attending colleges and universities in the US. Underrepresented minority and women students from diverse US institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. Although student authors may be given priority for travel awards, exceptional undergraduate research students (e.g., NSF REU students), MS research students, PhD and beginning post-doctoral researchers may also be considered. To be eligible, US based students (referred to as “you”) must apply via the Google Form link no later than Monday, February 05, 2024.

To apply for travel support, please do the following:

  1. Obtain a letter from your advisor/professor confirming that:
    • You are currently a full-time research student in good standing and working in areas related to pervasive computing
    • You will be attending the entire IEEE PerCom conference and associated events.
    • The remainder of your travel support will be covered (indicate how).
  2. Write a personal statement describing your research interests and accomplishments to date, how you wish to benefit from attending PerCom 2024. Indicate your full-time student status (B.S., M.S., Ph.D. or postdoc), and the location you will be traveling from.
  3. Submit the above documents, along with your two-page CV, as part of the “PerCom 2024 NSF supported travel grant for US students” using the Google Form link.
  4. Provide the demographic information using the Google Form link.

Please note that IEEE PerCom conference may not be able to reimburse for all of your travel expenses due to limited budget. Eligibility

The support is intended to cover the costs of attending the conference. The costs include conference registration, transportation, and lodging. Selection for the student travel grants will be in accordance with the following guidelines (please read them carefully, the eligibility and priorities have changed from the previous year’s according to the latest NSF guidelines):

  1. The applicant must be a current student at a recognized US institution of higher education.
  2. Student authors whose paper/poster/demo do not have any grant acknowledgments.
  3. The students may be pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree and field of study must be related to IEEE PerCom.
  4. US citizens or US permanent residents receive preference; others are eligible to apply and will be considered.
  5. Students who belong to groups that are under-represented in STEM and from minority-serving or under-represented institutions and states are specifically encouraged to apply
  6. Students and institutions who have not attended PerCom in the past.
  7. Student authors who are not presenting a paper/poster/demo at a PerCom event or whose paper/poster/demo were not selected for publication at a conference and would benefit from attending the conference.
  8. Consideration will be given to other applicants falling outside the above categories, but they need to demonstrate a well- justified financial need.
